GB Academy Day - April 2026
At GB Electronics (UK) Ltd we are always finding ways to engage with students, providing valuable insight into the electronics manufacturing industry and raising awareness of the career opportunities available within Sussex.
In April we held a GB Academy Day, giving students from Worthing College the opportunity to gain hands-on experience.
The Academy Day was broken up into 4 different sections, starting with basic IPC training and an introduction to the theory provided by our Life Science Production Manager.
Followed by moving down into the factory to complete 3 practical tasks:
Mechanical:
Working with our famous product BloodTrack, including reading and following build instructions.
Cables & Wires:
Crimping, soldering, and wire stripping in accordance with engineering drawings.
PCB Assembly:
Soldering and component pre-forming against Bills of Materials (BoMs) and assembly drawings.
Each student received a personalised feedback report alongside a completion letter for their CV. The feedback we received from the college and the students involved was very positive.
We look forward to continuing to work alongside colleges and universities providing students with a glimpse into the industry and what careers are available to them down in their local area within the STEM industry.
