A Holistic and Tailored Approach

Our holistic design approach allows our team to ensure that every phase of the Raspberry Pi module is given meticulous attention, guaranteeing it is integrated into a production-ready system. We tailor solutions to meet specific customer and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) needs, depending on what they require, varying from industrial automation, IoT devices, or consumer electronics.

This ensures that each product is not merely an adaptation of Raspberry Pi but a finely tuned solution that leverages its full potential while meeting specialised criteria. GB Logical (GBL, part of the GBE group) offers a high level of focus on technological quality and streamlining, specialising in bespoke software and firmware development using embedded solutions.

We also use our UK-based GBE factory (formerly Wildtrax) to create a cost-effective SMA line, allowing us to facilitate the manufacturing of products using Raspberry Pi all centralised under one company.

Our commercial model is built around collaboration. We work closely with OEMs, start-ups, and research teams to guide products beyond technical proof of concept and into viable commercial offerings.

By leveraging Raspberry Pi's stability, affordability, and widespread adoption, we help businesses break into embedded markets faster and more effectively with reduced risk.

  • Service Level Agreements: We offer custom SLAs (as an add-on cost) where we can do extra development for customers, provide technical support and deal with returns. Additionally, hosting agreements and SLAs are offered on the software side of the product, including helping to update firmware when required, bug fixes and security patches. This enables us to work with the customer to ensure they are satisfied with the product and level of service that we provide them with.

Case Studies

HAT is a key part of our Raspberry Pi-based solutions. We design and manufacture custom HATs that expand the functionality of Raspberry Pi modules to meet specific client applications-whether for signal conditioning, additional Input/Output, or sensor integration.

Image of the Vidiia VH6 device

We utilised Raspberry Pi in developing a small, fast and portable antigen test device for Covid19 (VIDIIA VH6), using our product design experience to create a HAT, coupled with our experience in the healthcare and medical markets to help create efficient testing kits. For realtime control, data processing, and system integration, we developed firmware using Python on a Raspberry Pi 4 and C on an ESP32 microcontroller. Our design teams at both GBE and GBL worked in conjunction, using Raspberry Pi 4 to handle core system logic and communication, ensuring seamless operation of the diagnostic process. The ESP32 provided precise real-time control of sensors and actuators, optimising performance and reliability. This setup enabled efficient processing, accurate test execution, and smooth interaction between hardware and software, creating a robust and scalable solution for the product. The functionality of the VH6 has been seen as it has recently been used in TB detection trials in Ghana, demonstrating how versatile it is.

GBL are also experienced in using Raspberry Pi to creatively solve key challenges, exemplified in using the Pico to store data. They overcame the storage limitation by integrating a lightweight SD card reader into the system, therefore presenting a cost-efficient and efficient method of data storage using Raspberry Pi. To enable digitalised report printing and storage in the designing of a Serial Data Logger, GBL opted to use the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 due to its compatibility and performance for this application. This ensures reliable and functionable operation, both online and offline, also including a manual option to transfer data via USB when necessary

Our partnerships

Our GBE design team have also provided expert guidance in modernising and innovating local business Eschmann Ltd's high-quality infection control and surgical products using our prowess in IoT and embedded systems. These include autoclaves, disinfectors and ultrasonic cleaners (for dentistry, veterinary and healthcare), and laboratory glass-cleaners. We use Raspberry Pi to log and report data and have introduced IoT to ensure the machines are efficiently monitored and traced. Raspberry Pi additionally presents a way to effectively manage user interface, benefacting Eschmann due to its compact and cost-effective nature. n an already well-established and successful line of products.
